To start with, the project on s’est déjà vu / olemme jo tavanneet / we have already met is a trilingual bookproject (French, Finnish, English) planned in the form of an ongoing process, centered around twelve watercolored images, mental romantic landscapes by Carita Savolainen, and fourteen texts triggered by these images from writers of diverse backgrounds.
The project was conceived by Carita Savolainen and launched in the form of a letter sent to twelve writers she had met in the course of her life, along with the twelve pictures of the watercolors. They were invited by the letter to choose one of the images and freely write a personal text from what it evoked to them. As a consequence, the book gives a portrait of each participant from a similar starting point.
The writers taking part in the project are : René Pons, Mari Mantela, Per E. Fosser, Gilles Kelber, Erja Harjunpää, Bona Mangangu, Claire Ponceau, Hannu Castrén, Michèle Arellano, Kristina Haataja, Bernard Teulon-Nouailles, Hanna Schaafsma, Clement Adelman and Marc Ossorguine.
With this project the artist seeks to highlight the relationship between image and text as well as the link between the different texts proposed, allowing one to go from one place to another, one point of time to another and from one person to another. As an ongoing project further steps are taken to carry the link to other art forms such as dance, sound ..
The title on s’est déjà vu / olemme jo tavanneet / we have already met intends to evoke a feeling familiar to everybody at one time or another, a particular moment when one can be confronted to an element never seen before, but is still persuaded to recognize.
The book was published by éléments de langage and was presented to the public along with the images on December 7th 2013 in Brussels. It was also presented at the Institut Français of Helsinki on December 9th.
The following event linked to this project included a contemporary dancer’s interpretation of an image and took place on the 22 of May 2014 in Brussels in the Librairie Galerie Chapitre XII. Mikko Hyvönen developed a choreography from four images he had chosen specifically for his performance. Mikko Hyvönen is Finnish performer and choreographer based in Brussels. Currently he’s working with Rosas / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and with his own process Organic synthetic.
The next event will take place in Atelier Neitzert Heraud, Lieu d’Art Actuel (South of France) on Sebtember 13th and will recall the project as a whole with the participation of the writers living in the area and other people involved in it. On this occasion, contemporary composer Aki Ito will present a musical composition in the form of a sound installation. In this piece of music specifically composed for the project, she triggers the perception of sounds that either flow alongside the images or confront them. Aki Ito is a contemporary composer born in Japan and living in Paris. Her research is oriented toward sound cognition in form and space.

Kuvataiteilija Carita Savolaisen taideprojekti on s’est déjà vu / olemme jo tavanneet / we have already met saa muotonsa kolmikielisenä kirjana (ranska-suomi-englanti) joulukuussa 2013. Projekti sai alkunsa, kun Savolainen lähetti kahdentoista vesivärityönsä sarjan tuntemilleen kirjoittajille ja pyysi heitä kirjoittamaan niistä puhuttelevimmasta henkilökohtaisen tekstin. Näin syntyi yhteensä neljätoista erilaista tekstiä taustoiltaan hyvin erilaisten kirjoittajien tekeminä. Savolainen aloitti laajan vesiväritöidensä sarjan muutama vuosi sitten. Taideprojektiinsa hän valitsi sarjastaan kaksitoista kuvaa, joista ainakin osa nähdään kirjan julkistamistilaisuuden yhteyteen järjestettävässä näyttelyssä. Vesiväritöiden aihe on maisema, jota hän käsittelee abstraktina mielikuvana ja johon hän samastuu voimakkaasti elettyään jo vuosien ajan “kiertolaisena” Euroopassa: Suomessa, Ranskassa ja Belgiassa. Yhteistyökumppaniksi valikoitui brysseliläinen pienkustantamo “éléments de langage” (www.elementsdelangage.eu), jonka yhteydet projektin maihin ja kulttuureihin tekivät siitä luontevan ja tervetulleen jäsenen työryhmään. Kirjoittajina projektiin osallistuivat René Pons, Mari Mantela, Per E. Fosser, Gilles Kelber, Erja Harjunpää, Bona Mangangu, Claire Ponceau, Hannu Castrén, Michèle Arellano, Kristina Haataja, Bernard Teulon-Nouailles, Hanna Schaafsma, Clement Adelman ja Marc Ossorguine. Projektin alkaessa ei ollut varmaa, millainen siitä tulisi. Uteliaisuus ja osallistujille annettu vapaus muokkasivat projektia matkan varrella ja toivat siihen uusia ulottuvuuksia. Kirjan julkistamisen jälkeen projektia on tarkoitus jatkaa edelleen. Kirjan julkistamistilaisuus ja projektiin liittyvän näyttelyn avajaiset pidetään kustantamon éléments de langage tiloissa 7.12.2013 Brysselissä. Näyttely on avoinna 8.-21.12. la ja su klo 15-18 sekä sopimuksen mukaan. Kirja esittellään myös Ranskan Instituutissa 9.12.2013 Helsingissä.

À l’origine, on s’est déjà vu / olemme jo tavanneet / we have already met est un projet de livre trilingue (français, finnois, anglais) conçu en évolution ouverte , constitué autour de douze aquarelles , images mentales romantiques du paysage de Carita Savolainen et de quatorze textes écrits à partir de ces images par des écrivains d’origines diverses.
Le projet a été pensé et lancé par Carita Savolainen sous la forme d’une lettre accompagnée des douze images adressées aux écrivains rencontrés au cours de sa vie. Dans la lettre elle leur proposait de choisir une des images et écrire un texte libre et personnel à partir de celle-ci. Ainsi le livre forme un portrait de chaque participant, d’un point de départ similaire.

Au travers de ce projet l’artiste cherche à révéler le lien entre l’image et le texte ainsi qu’entre les différentes propositions, permettant un trajet d’un lieu à l’autre, d’une époque à l’autre et d’une personne à l’autre. Comme ce projet continue dans le temps, les étapes suivantes vont le lier à d’autres formes d’expression, telles que la danse, le son…
Le titre on s’est déjà vu / olemme jo tavanneet / we have already met se veut évocateur d’un sentiment familier dans la vie de chacun, d’un moment particulier pendant lequel on peut se trouver devant un élément que l’on n’a jamais vu auparavant mais que l’on est en même temps persuadé de reconnaître.
Le livre, publié chez éléments de langage a été présenté au public avec les images le 7 décembre 2013 à Bruxelles. Il a également été présenté à l’Institut français d’Helsinki le 9 décembre. L’évènement suivant lié à ce projet a fait appel à l’interprétation de l’image par un danseur et chorégraphe contemporain à la librairie-galerie Chapitre XII à Bruxelles le 22 mai 2014.
Mikko Hyvönen a développé à cet effet à partir de quatre images de son choix une chorégraphie spécifique à sa performance. Mikko Hyvönen est un danseur et chorégraphe finlandais installé à Bruxelles. Actuellement il travaille avec Rosas / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker et poursuit sa recherche évolutive personnelle Organic synthetic.
L’évènement suivant aura lieu à Atelier Neizert Héraud, Lieu d’art actuel (34) le 13 septembre et tendra à présenter l’ensemble du projet en présence des écrivains vivant dans la région ainsi que d’autres participants avec une musique composée sous forme d’une installation sonore d’Aki Ito. Dans ce travail elle provoque la perception sonore qui, soit côtoie les images, soit se confronte à elles, à partir d’une composition musicale originale. Aki Ito est une compositrice d’origine japonaise résidant à Paris. Ses recherches s’orientent vers la cognition sonore dans les formes et l’espace.
